Getting better all the time.

Though I still feel pretty crappy, things are getting better.

Last night was my first night on 500 calories of TPN.  Actually, it was 250 calories because the pump malfunctioned at 11:30, 1:00 AM, and 1:30 AM.  After the third malfunction we shut the pump off and disconnected TPN.

I’m taking in enough calories by mouth that I was gaining weight on the 1000 calories of TPN.  We figure I should be able to get through this week of 500 calories without losing any weight.

The trick is I have to increase my calorie intake enough this week to be totally off TPN by next week.  This promises to be a challenge.

Another good thing is I’ve increased the amount of exercise I do every day.  I take Molly for a short walk every morning and we take her for about a nine block walk every afternoon.  This is a huge improvement from when I could barely get out of my chair.

Though I don’t feel all that great most of the time, there are windows where my head clears, my stomach is settled, and life seems pretty normal.

Not surprisingly, this whole experience is getting old.  I am so ready to move on.

Hey Gary! Thanks for the update. We in the wings are rooting for each day to be better than the one before. We wish for you a clear mind and a settled stomach EVERY day! Good to hear you and Molly are out and about, too. It must be nice to walk outside — unlike here where we got up this morning to snow-covered everything! We’re ready to move on, too, but for an much less significant reason.
    🙂 Best always!

Good buddy here’s another song: “Hallelujah, hallelujah”!!!! Trust me; it’s WAY better for me to print the words than sing them, but I am singing it while doing my out with TPN dance!!! Nine blocks of walking with Molly is really good too! What an amazing dog and “best friend”.

Just the fact that you are feeling a wee bit stronger every day is so encouraging. I know how hard it must be to take baby steps when you want that giant leap. It’s coming, I am sure! Your have been run over by a dump truck multiple times.

Anne and Marcia you are such gems!!! Oh, and Gary, you are AWESOME!!!

I could really go for a clear mind and a settled stomach every day. It seems like it’s going to be awhile before that happens. Pushing calories in an effort to get free of the TPN is quite the challenge. My stomach isn’t real pleased with the effort.

When we finally meet I’m going to expect to see the TPN dance accompanied by the “Hallelujah, hallelujah” song. I can hardly wait.
