Has my stomach forgiven me?

As I speculated in my last post, I think my intestines have been giving me so much distress because they are pissed off I didn’t consult with them before having my stomach surgically removed.

This is entirely understandable, though I doubt they would have been any kinder if they had been consulted.  They probably would have yelled “surgery!  Absolutely not!  We forbid it!”, and been just as pissy because their demands were not met.

None-the-less, things appear to be looking up.  My stomach appears to be forgiving me.

Over the past few days putting food in my stomach hasn’t resulted in any major gastric rebellions.

Oh sure, I’m still a little queasy at times.  But over all eating is going much better.

Not only is there less distress, but I am able to eat more food.  This is significant because the more food I can take in by mouth the sooner I can stop getting my nutrition through a tube.

And I am so ready to be rid of the TPN tube.

Good news today, or at least it seems that way to me. More food = more energy? I hope Anne can begin to enjoy some cooking for two again very soon, even if you can’t eat your full share just yet! I gotta laugh at the little stomach cartoon with this post. I hope your insides start to look a little more like it real soon!

Let me clarify!! I meant I hope your new stomach begins to gain a little breadth like the cartoon character – but without the uncomfortable grimace!! 🙂

I think your new stomach’s initial reluctance to cooperate was a classic example of it not reading it’s original job description as part of the small intestine – you know, the part where it says “other duties as assigned”. We’re so happy that it’s finally starting to come around!

As you well know, those “other duties as assigned” clauses cause more resentment than anything else in a job description. More heartburn and nausea have been created by the “other duties as assigned” clause than all other causes combined.

I knew what you meant. It is nice to have a stomach that is less grumpy. It will be even nicer to have a stomach that is happy.
